An article published in the satirical magazine al-Mudhiq al-Mubki in 1953, mocking Dr Farid Zayn al-Din, Ambassador of Syria to the UN. It recalls a story about his arrest while a student in Paris in 1926 for "disturbing his French neighbors." Zayn al-Din, the magazine claimed, had a weak voice, and was required by doctors to sing, in a very loud voice, every night before sleeping, in order to strengthen his vocal chords. He lived next to a family of French musicians (who greatly appreciated good sound and good music), and were greatly annoyed at his screaming at night, in Arabic. They had police authorities arrest him for being a nuisance
