From left to right: The Damascus-based Palestinian journalist Mohammad Ali Eltaher, Prime Minister Sabri al-Asali, Nasuh Babil, President of the Syrian Journalists Syndicate and publisher of al-Ayyam. The photo was taken during Eltaher's residency in Damascus in the 1950s, when he fled Egypt after the rise of the Free Officers in 1952. Eltaher had published a leading anti-colonial newspaper from Cairo called Asshoura, which advocated liberating the Arab World from European occupation in the 1920s and 1930s.
