General Sami al-Hinnawi (1896-1950), the Chief-of-Staff, who was arrested by General Adib al-Shishakli on December 19, 1949. He was then exiled to Beirut where he was shot in 1950 by Hersho al-Barazi, who was taking revenge for his cousin Muhsen al-Barazi, whom Hinnawi had killed in August 1949.
